Yucatan Maya sites

    If you plan to visit the Yucatan, you cannot miss the Maya archeological sites there such as Chichen Itza, Uxmal and Edzna. Other Maya sites I recommend are Maxcanu, Calakmul, Izamal , Ek Balam and Becan. You may wanna go on a tour unless you're kinda fluent in Spanish in which case you'll be able to confidently use public transport and hiring a guide to explore the Maya sites.

    Ek Balam is much smaller than the Tullum ruins and not the most easily accessible but worth going to because of the lack of huge crowds and to see the spectacular three-dimensional sculptures found on the stairs of the main pyramid, which you're allowed to climb to the top....the view up there is simply priceless!
