Castles, landmarks, hiking in the Tatra Mountains, or viewing the stunning scenes below from the Szymoszkowa chair life are just a few of the things to see and on in Zakopane, Poland.

Zakopane is just as fun in the summer as it's in the winter. In the summer, you can do plenty of hiking and attend cool Polish festivals like the annual International Festival of Mountain Folklore in mid August.

I've been to Zakopane several times and one thing I would strongly suggest is polishing (no pun intended) on your Polish to get by. Poland isn't like other European destinations where you can get away with your english. Also, Zakopane main street is basically a tourist trap and best avoided if I were you because all the stalls are selling the same wooden knick-knacks and sheep's cheese everywhere. Be sure to visit the salt mine and spend a day in Krakow if you have time.
