Disney Dream

The Disney Dream is the latest stunning cruise ship to be created for the company's luxury fleet, joining the existing Magic and Wonder vessels. The Disney Dream cruise ship, which is being built in Germany along with its sister ship, the Fantasy, will begin sailing in 2011, with cruises leaving out of Port Canaveral, Florida, through at least 2014. Work started on the two new Disney cruise ships in March 2009, and the two luxury liners are sure to be nothing short of impressive.

The Disney Dream will be much larger than the two current Disney cruise ships and will have enough space for more than 3,500 passengers. With a length of 330 meters and a width of 37 meters, the Disney Dream cruise ship will be home to 1,250 staterooms. Additional on-board services and amenities for the ocean liner have not yet been announced.

The ambience and theme will be similar to that of the existing Disney cruise ships, with the design evoking classic 1930s luxury liners and the layout featuring multiple places where families can spend time together or separately, including extensive kids' and adults-only areas. The Disney Dream will have the same color palette as the classic Mickey Mouse character, and the ship's hull will feature scroll work in an Art Deco-inspired style.

Itineraries have not been set for the Disney Dream cruise ship or the Fantasy, but it's expected that the Dream will visit Disney's private Castaway Cay during cruises through the Caribbean Sea. The clear water is a perfect site for scuba diving, and the pristine beaches provide the perfect place to relax during shore excursions from this magnificent ship.
