Chamonix is a region and ski area in the Haute-Savoie department in southeastern France. This resort is perhaps most notably known as having the highest lift-served vertical drop in the entire world at a staggering 9,209 feet. Chamonix Mont Blanc also boasts the one of the world’s longest ski runs, clocking in at nearly fourteen miles. There are over 760 acres of skiable terrain that will thrill even the most seasoned and expert skiers and boarders. The top elevation at Chamonix Mont Blanc is 10,745 feet with a jaw-dropping vertical of 9,209 feet. Sixteen percent of the ski runs at the resort are designated for beginners, 39 percent for intermediates, 16 percent are single black diamonds, and 29 percent are double black diamonds. People all over Europe and beyond recognize that this resort, and the Chamonix ski area in general comprise one of the toughest and most challenging examples of winter sports terrain in the world.
