Porto Vecchio Hotels

Numerous Porto Vecchio hotels give you ready access to some of the best beaches on this Mediterranean island that is famous for its pristine stretches of sand. You can even find excellent Porto Vecchio accommodation right in the historic Old Town district, and still be close to beaches. Or you might choose one of the vacation rentals strung along the coast a bit outside of town.

You can even find unique lodging in Porto Vecchio in charming little bed and breakfast inns (called ferme auberge) in the farming villages of the mountains that lie just behind town. Whatever your choice, you will find wonderfully rewarding vacations here in southern Corsica. One excellent Porto Vecchio accommodation in this category is the Auburge Sole e Monti, set in the Alta Rocca Mountain Range in the village of Quenza, only about 15 miles north of the town. It boasts 20 rooms, a swimming pool, restaurant, and bar. There is fabulous mountain hiking in this region, and the little village is charming.

One of the finest hotels in Porto Vecchio is the Hotel E Casette. Ten secluded villas are scattered along a wooded hill in a tranquil park setting on a hill overlooking the bay, harbor, and town, but is still only a couple miles from the town and all the things to do there. It is on the Palombaggia Road, so you are already partway to what is considered one of the best beaches in Europe. It certainly is Corsica’s most famous. Another of the hotels in Porto Vecchio in this category is the elegant Casadelmar, also on the Palombaggia Road. Deluxe rooms look out over the bay, and there is a spa and beachside restaurant.

If you want to be right in town, you have several choices of hotels in Porto Vecchio that are within the walls of the sixteenth-century citadel. One of the most popular is the Hotel Alcyon, set in front of the citadel and with sweeping views of the bay. A full breakfast buffet is served in the mornings, and you can walk easily within town to enjoy the many fine restaurants and nightlife. You can also walk from the hotel to pier where the ferries from mainland France, Sardinia, and mainland Italy put in. There are a number of other Porto Vecchio hotels in this central area.

If you want your Porto Vecchio accommodation to be self catering, you will find numerous vacation rentals here. The largest number is found concentrated along the coast north of the town. Several of these are part of the Coastline Villa Collection, which has rental properties in Corsica as well Majorca, and Ibiza (both islands of Spain). A good example is the Bella Marina, a lovely villa with four bedrooms that sleeps as many as eight people. A collection of food will greet you on arrival, and there is a swimming pool and fully equipped kitchen. If you want pampering, you can book a private chef for a special meal or to cook during your entire stay. All of this comes with fabulous sea views. About fifteen miles north of town is stunning Pinareelu Bay, with its beautiful, long curving beach. Porto Vecchio hotels here include properties like the Alba Marina. The location over the bay is fabulous. Furnishings in the rooms are a bit fussy and old fashioned, but they are spacious and very comfortable. There are also one and two bedroom villas with fully equipped kitchens. More deluxe is the Le Pinarello, a 4-star property set right on the bay, with its own private stretch of beach.
