The Lyon Museum of Contemporary Art is one of the finest institutions in the city. It is located in the Cite Internationale on the banks of the Rhone River overlooking the Parc de la Tete d'Or. The peaceful and pleasant area in which it is located makes this destination even more inviting, as there are a host of restaurants, cafes, and wine bars within very close proximity. The permanent collection at the Musee d’art Contemporain de Lyon is comprised almost entirely of works of art created by living artists. It is a wide-open and very functional space that allows for the artists to create works within the museum and adapt them to its space.
There is also always a nice selection of temporary exhibits going on at the museum where you can see current trends and new artists on display in Lyon. Something to be aware of is that the museum will close down in between temporary exhibits to change over the space. If you are planning a visit and are committed to visiting the Lyon Museum of Contemporary Art, you will want to check their events schedule to be sure they are open.
The Musee d’art Contemporain de Lyon is open Wednesday to Friday, noon to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can purchase tickets to the museum onsite. The ticket office closes fifteen minutes before the museum closes every day. The Café de Musee is another feature of the museum that is nice. It has a lovely terrace that overlooks the Parc de la Tete d’Or. Any visit to the Lyon Museum of Contemporary Art is bound to be an enjoyable experience.
