Past Les Conches—the beach that seems never-ending—and other magnificent Vendee beaches, the picturesque countryside, delicious regional food and dining, and wonderful France beach hotels and resorts complete an area that is one of the best finds along the western French coast.
Bound by scented pine woods and gently sloping dunes, the beaches of Vendee are an ideal vacation spot for beach and sun lovers. The mild weather makes a stay here even more agreeable. The excellent museums, beautiful churches, and historic abbeys offer even more to explore when visiting Vendee France. Thousands of well groomed walking paths mean getting outdoors and off the coast is virtually impossible at one point or another during France vacations. An exciting cycling path is marked out along the marshes and mudflats, creating an avenue for experiencing the rich wildlife. Heading out for some great surf fishing along the ocean or at one of the area lakes or rivers is also an easy feat among the extensive network of waterways.
Bretignolles-Sur-Mer is a hotspot for locals and visitors heading to the sun-soaked shores. It is one of the most traversed beaches in the Vendee awash with shops hawking a bounty of beach toys and equipment. There are ice cream and waffle shops galore and plenty of places to sit down for a tasty meal. Food and dining here is excellent with establishments featuring a low-key vibe that matches the beaches laid back feel. Many artisans head out to scour the beach in Bretignolles-Sur-Mer for unique rocks and other interesting things to make jewelry and other artistic endeavors.
Vendee France is also home to Les Sables d'Olonne, one of the twenty-five beach towns drawing tourists like magnets. Les Sables d'Olonne is the most stylish resort sitting on this side of France. Amazing markets, incredible shops, and an equally breathtaking beach together create one of the most irresistible European coastal regions. Gastronomic delights abound at the central market and fresh seafood is readily available at the local fish market. Note that during high tide the beaches in the Vendee are mostly occupied by beachside tents set up on the sparse leftovers of sand not concealed by the high-rising Atlantic.
