Hotels in Dresden Germany

Dresden Hotels

With a history of habitation that stretches back over hundreds of years, Dresden, Germany has an exceptionally rich cultural heritage. While a great deal of Dresden was destroyed during the firebombing of 1945, the spirit of the town was resilient and the residents have worked diligently to restore Dresden to its former glory. As a result, it's no surprise that so many choose to stay in hotels in Dresden each year.

Zwinger Palace is a popular attraction due to its housing several museums. Containing over 2000 paintings, the marquee feature is Raphael's Sistine Madonna. Other Saxon artifacts can be found within. The Semper Opera House is another favorite due to its stunning architecture and classic operatic performances. The single most famous landmark you'll find in Dresden though is the Frauenkirche. The church's three hundred foot dome is unmistakable. While it was heavily damaged during World War II, the Frauenkirche has undergone extensive restoration with the interior due to be finished just in time to celebrate Dresden's 800th anniversary. With a little research, you'll be able to find many hotels in Dresden located near its main attractions.

Those looking for a Dresden hotel on the cheap end

won't have much trouble finding affordable rates. There are plenty of reasonably priced rooms for under 100 Euros.

If you have more of your budget allotted to lodging, there are several excellent hotels in Dresden that possess both luxury and a historic significance to the city. The two mentioned below are an excellent example of a luxury hotel in Dresden Germany.

Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski

Originally constructed in 1705 at the behest of August the Strong for his favorite concubine, the Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski is one of Dresden's most luxurious resorts. Shortly after finishing construction, it became an important center for culture by hosting princes, guests, and other nobility. As with much of Dresden's Old City, the building was destroyed during World War II. However, it was eventually rebuilt in the 1990s under the care of Kempinski Hotels & Spas. Much of the attraction of the old building was recaptured by architects. All modern amenities in this Dresden hotel are included and guests will delight in the Vestibule Café or the Finnish Sauna.

Bülow Residenz

Another notable luxury hotel in Dresden Germany, the Hotel Bülow Residenz is a privately owned grand hotel that emphasizes service and elegance. One of the best features of this Dresden hotel is its location: within ten minutes walk of the main attractions of the city. The building itself was originally constructed in 1730 and was renovated in 1993. As with many of the luxury hotel in Dresden Germany, the Bülow Residenz blends historic beauty with sumptuous comfort.
