Kecskemet Hotels

There are several good Kecskemet hotels right in town, giving you easy access to all the attractions and things to do here. Most of them are excellent values and even the city’s 4-star Aranyhomok Wellness Hotel is reasonable and affordable. Quite modern and located on the charming Main Square, it has recently been completely renovated. All rooms have color satellite television, direct-dial phone, and a minibar. There is a good restaurant with both international and local cuisine dining opportunities. The brand new wellness center boasts all the facilities that most of the thermal spas all over Hungary have, including a spacious swimming pool. If you need your Kecskemet accommodation to be as upscale as possible, this is the place to stay.

There are also basic Kecskemet lodging options. If it’s really cheap hotels in Kecskemet with the basic comforts that you’re looking for, try the GAMF Kollegium, as it’s the only one of the many Hungary hostels close to town (about five miles from city center). Rooms with shared facilities, including kitchen, laundry, Internet, phones, and outdoor barbecue, all have fridges. A large shopping center is a within a ten-minute walk. This hostel is only open in July and August.

You have a reasonable choice of 3-star Kecskemet hotels that are all clean, comfortable, and often have some very attractive features. Hotel Háry has been recently refurbished and offers complimentary Internet access. It also has quite a good restaurant, fitness room, and sauna. There’s even room service and a Roulette Club with entertainment. Rooms are simply decorated and furnished, but come with television, phone, hairdryer, safe, and minibar. Other good 3-star Kecskemet lodging choices include the Hotel Sport and Hotel Apollo.

Probably the best 3-star Kecskemet lodging option is the Hotel Három Gúnár in the center of town. It’s housed in a very pretty traditional building and boasts an excellent kitchen, one of the most popular dining venues in the city. There’s a very nice pub with plasma TV, billiards, and darts. Rooms, with excellent amenities, are refreshingly decorated and furnished – not the rather grim 1960s décor of many other Hungarian properties.

While only one of the Hungary hostels is in town, if you have the transportation and mobility of an automobile, you may want to discover the agro-tourism segment of the country. Kecskemet accommodation can actually be one of the guesthouses and pensions that are traditional working family farms (tanya, in Hungarian). You find many of these in the countryside around Kecskemet as well as Szeged and Debrecen because of their location on the Great Hungarian Plain known as the Puszta.

Typically, the bedrooms are in the farmhouse, and many of these have been in the same family for generations. Often they are of whitewashed stucco with thatched roofs. All are in picturesque settings offering lovely green spaces, peace, and quiet. In some cases, you can participate in everyday farm chores, and the dining presents the very best of traditional home-cooked Hungarian cuisine. Many of the farms offer outdoor things to do like horseback riding, hiking, and tennis. The Golden Horse Recreation Park & Guest Farm even has opportunities for skydiving and paragliding! This kind of Kecskemet accommodation offers a truly authentic Hungarian experience. And the really good news is how very inexpensive they are. Other good guest farms near Kecskemet are the Moonlight Country House, Gedeon Farm, and Pista Tanya.
