Dublin Day Trip

Dublin Ireland

The city of Dublin is quickly becoming one of the most popular cities to visit in all of Europe.  Whether it’s taking a brewery tour, checking out the Parliament building or simply losing yourself in the winding streets of downtown, day trips in Dublin provide endless enchantment.  Dublin day trips and Dublin day tours spent exploring the city are excellent ways to become familiar with Ireland.

Downtown

Seeing all that downtown Dublin has to offer in just a day is hardly possible, but day trips in Dublin can still provide a great view of the area.  A number of popular attractions are located within walking distance from the heart of downtown, allowing for convenient Dublin day trips and Dublin day tours on foot.  Begin at Dublin Castle, where you can tour the castle itself seven days a week.  Located close to Dublin Castle is the National Library of Ireland, Christ Church Cathedral and a number of other historic landmarks.  Walk or take the bus about ten blocks east to see the Leinster House, the National Museum and the National Gallery.  A number of other attractions, shops and restaurants can also be enjoyed in the area.

Dublin Zoo

Day trips in Dublin to the zoo are yet another excellent way to see Dublin.  Located in the northwest corner of the city, Dublin tours of the zoo take guests through the oldest zoo in Ireland and the most popular.  Dublin day trips and Dublin day tours of the zoo can be followed up by a trip through the surrounding Phoenix Park.

Organized Day Trips

Tours of Dublin for visitors can also be organized through a number of different tour companies.  Tours by bus, on foot, and even by horse drawn carriages can be arranged through local companies in Dublin.  Tours generally last about two hours, and take travelers past the main sights of the city, led by a knowledgeable tour guide.  Brewery tours are also quite popular, which stop by many of the local breweries in the area, including the Guinness Brewery.

Day Trips from Dublin

Heading north from Dublin, travelers will encounter some smaller towns that surround Dublin.  Dublin tours from the city to the north can include trips to Drumcondra, Glasnevin Howth, Malahide and Sekerries.  A few of these towns are close enough to Dublin that they can be reached via public transportation.  Great views of Dublin bay and excellent restaurants serving fresh seafood are what travelers will find on these Dublin tours.

Tours of Dublin past the south of the city will also take travelers to some surrounding towns, yet these are even closer to the sea.  Dun Laoghaire, Dalky and Killiney are all located in the area.  In Dun Laoghaire tourists will find a great shopping area as well as a promenade for strolling along the coast.  Golfing and other outdoor activities can also be enjoyed in the area.

Whether you plan to take tours of Dublin to stay in the city or drive to some of the nearby towns and villages, travelers find that there is no other city in the world quite like Dublin.
