Dublin Hotels

While the busy city streets and cheerful pubs offer Ireland visitors days and nights of sparkling entertainment, Dublin hotels provide comfortable rooms in which to rest, recuperate, and leisurely soak in the beauty and energy of this Irish city. Whether you’re in the market for a sojourn at a luxury Dublin Hotel or a short holiday in one of many cheap Dublin Hotels, accommodations are available through the city. Over the past few years, hotels in Dublin had increased multifold, with new establishments springing up all over the city to accommodate the growing numbers of international tourists. With the increase in tourism, hotel rates have also increased, now comparable to rates in Paris and London.

One luxury Dublin Hotel is the Merrion, which is comprised of four restored Georgian houses. One restored house was home to the Duke of Wellington, hero of the Battle of Waterloo. This beautiful hotel boasts gorgeous architecture and furnishings, as well as two in-house restaurants. Some travelers prefer to stay at national hotel chains, so as to receive the same quality of service throughout their travels in different Irish cities. Other luxury Dublin hotel options include two Dublin Airport Hotels—the Holiday Inn Dublin Airport and the Great Southern Hotel. The Great Southern Hotel is actually located within the airport complex and is part of one of Ireland’s most respected hotel chains.

Inexpensive Dublin lodging options are also available.  In general, lodgings on the north side of the river tend to be less expensive than those offered on the south. Many cheaper hotels in Dublin are guest houses run by families and friends. One favorite is the Marian Guest House, located on Upper Gardiner Street. It is a family-run guest house, serving delicious Irish food such as black pudding and smoked bacon. The entire family also speaks Irish. Usually, cheap Dublin Hotels tend to include only basic rooms and amenities.

Many young travelers, watching their budget, will either stay in hostels or in cheap Dublin hotels. The avid budget traveler will more likely opt for a clean, well-reputed youth hostel rather than search for a moderately inexpensive Dublin hotel. Dublin hostels tend to attract the younger crowd, with patrons ranging from teenagers to 30-year-olds. However, some hostels do not allow clients over a certain age, so be sure to ask about age restrictions when making your reservations. Adventurers concerned about sharing a room with strangers can reserve private hostel rooms at slightly higher rate.

If you fly into the Dublin Airport hotel accommodations can be arranged at one of the many tourism kiosks located in the Arrivals section of the airport. There are also a number of online Dublin Airport hotel guides that can help weary travelers quickly and easily locate lodging, either from the convenience of their home computer or at an airport internet café.

Besides Dublin Hotels, visitors can book stays at a wide variety of B&Bs and guesthouses, as well as both catered and self-service accommodations. The hotels in Dublin are a more consistent option, as the quality, service, and level of accommodations at B&Bs and guesthouses can vary by owner. However, a stay at a well-chosen B&B can add tremendously to your Dublin experience. Note: If you plan to rent a car, it is advisable to look for a hotel or B&B outside the city in order to avoid the headache of finding a parking space on crowded Dublin streets. Hotels in Dublin run the gamut from budget to expensive, but with a little research, travelers can find the perfect accommodations for their exciting Dublin visit.
