Cinque Terre Hotels

The Cinque Terre is located on the Italian Riviera of Italy and consists of five small fishing villages—Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. Each village is rich in history and tradition with a collection of colorful buildings, cobble stone streets, narrow alleyways, and charming Cinque Terre hotels. The Cinque Terre is a quiet and relaxing place to come for a vacation. Although Italy can be quite expensive, accommodations in Cinque Terre are usually very affordable.

You won’t find huge chain hotels in the Cinque Terre. Rather, each Cinque Terre lodging option usually contains no more than twenty guest rooms. Bed and breakfasts and privately owned Cinque Terre apartments are especially common in the town of Monterosso. These types of accommodations in Cinque Terre usually provide basic amenities such as a single or double bed and a dresser. Bathrooms are occasionally shared with other guests and air conditioning is a rarity.

The Hotel Villa Steno is located in Monterosso, the largest of the five towns in the Cinque Terre. Each one of the sixteen rooms offers a private bathroom with a shower, a hair dryer, air conditioning, a telephone, a satellite TV, and a mini-bar. Each room offers a large window with a beautiful view of the Mediterranean Sea. Make sure to wake up early enough to eat the complimentary breakfast served each morning. Most of the breakfast items, such as yogurt, eggs, and fruits, are a product of local organic farming. The hotel owners make their own focaccia bread and croissants as well as homemade jam made from the oranges and lemons grown in the hotel’s garden.

Another option for Cinque Terre hotels is the Camere. Located on the coast of the Mediterranean in Monterosso, this family-owned hotel offers spacious rooms with private bathrooms, air conditioning, telephones, and satellite TV. Just like the Hotel Villa Steno, each room in the Camere faces the Mediterranean Sea. The hotel is just a short walk from the train station as well as Cinque Terre hiking trails that will allow you to access the other villages. The hotel’s dining room serves a fresh organic breakfast each morning and also offers dinner as well as cooking demonstrations.

If you're looking for accommodations in Cinque Terre with some historical value, the Hotel La Zorza in Riomaggiore has what your looking for. The nine room Cinque Terre lodging dates back to the fifteenth century when the hotel, which was then a private residence, belonged to a sailor and his family. Although the Cinque Terre lodging is old, it has been refurbished through the years and is updated and comfortable. Each room has a single or double bed with comfortable linens as well as a dresser. The downstairs breakfast room was once a wine cellar where the famous Cinque Terre wine, Schiachetra, was produced.

No matter where you choose to stay, it’s best to book your Cinque Terre hotels months in advance. Summers can be quite busy and hotel rooms go fast!
