Italy Beach Resorts

Italy beach resorts can be found in numerous spots. After all, this highly cultured and sun drenched country is almost entirely surrounded by water and boasts an extensive coastline. Off the mainland, a series of islands present even more options for beach holidays in Italy, so you might find yourself getting lost in the myriad opportunities.

Thanks to Italy’s splendid weather and its many beaches, the country has long figured among the most popular beach vacation destinations in Europe. In the south especially, you can expect warm weather in the spring, the summer, and the fall. In the north, summer is the more appropriate beach season, though travelers who have Northern Italy beach resorts in mind don’t necessarily have to limit themselves to the summer season. A stroll on the beach can be rewarding at any time of year, provided that it isn’t raining, perhaps. Also, the rates at the Italy beach resorts tend to go down outside of the very peak summer season, so this is something to consider.

Southern Italy might be warmer than Northern Italy on the whole, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t popular beaches or beach resorts in the north. Take Rimini, for example. This city in the northeast is actually one of Europe’s most renowned seaside resorts. Visitors can stretch out on a long sandy beach, and there are certainly plenty of beach hotels to select from. The most renowned is the aptly named Grand Hotel Rimini. Also figuring among the most popular Northern Italy beach resorts is San Remo. Situated along the glorious Italian Riviera, this city offers some of the best weather in the north, not to mention long strips of sand that are lined with hotels. One such hotel is the Royal Hotel San Remo. Much like the Grand Hotel Rimini, this resort hotel is of the luxurious variety and has little trouble keeping guests happy. As for other ideas for places to find Northern Italy beach resorts, there’s always Lido. This sandbar island in Venice is home to a variety of beach hotels and villas, not to mention beach facilities. Also in the immediate Venice area is the famous seaside resort of Jesolo, which is largely known for its long beach and its extensive holiday facilities.

Several of the most popular Southern Italy beach resorts can be found in the Amalfi Coast region. Along the Amalfi Coast proper, the Positano hotels and the Ravello hotels offer some of the best resort lodging choices. Also worth considering when looking to stay at a beach resort hotel in the area are the Sorrento hotels and the Capri hotels. A healthy number of these hotels have resort qualities. In Sorrento especially, you might have to work your way down to a pebbly beach or a floating pier if you wish to enjoy beach-like activities, but that doesn’t seem to bother most visitors. The stunning scenery more than makes up for it. In reference to Capri, the island is basically one big resort, so visitors who seek the resort experience can entertain the option of staying at virtually any hotel. As for other southern hotspots to focus on when planning beach holidays in Italy, Sicily is a fine example. In Taormina, for example, you can find the Hotel Lido Mediterranee and the Grand Hotel Atlantis Bay.

Many Italy beach resorts have a luxurious edge. The Grand Hotel Rimini and the Royal Hotel San Remo are perfect examples of this. Other examples include the highly regarded Il San Pietro di Positano (Amalfi Coast) and the Hotel Castello Forte Village Resort (Sardinia). Those who are searching for luxury Italian beach resorts can also turn to upscale resort destinations such as Cinque Terre and Portofino. If you can’t manage to get a room at one of the upscale resort hotels, there are the many high class villas that can be found on or near the sands of the Italy beaches.

Italy isn’t exactly overrun by all inclusive beach resorts. That being said, there are some options to consider. Among them are the two Club Med properties that call the southern part of the country home. These properties are the Club Med Napitia and the Club Med Otranto. The Napitia resort is family friendly, while the resort in Otranto has an adults only policy. Also an option on the Italy all inclusive beach resort front is the Iberotel Apulia. You can find it in the south, and the only thing that separates the resort from the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea is a thin pine forest.
