Como Italy

The town of Como Italy itself is perhaps the most popular place on Lake Como. Known for the beauty of the lake and its proximity to the Italian Alps, the city of Como Italy has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in all of northern Italy. Visitors come here to see churches, gardens, and palaces, to dine while staring out at gorgeous views, and to explore other nearby beautiful towns on the lake including Bellagio, Menaggio, Varenna, and Lecco. There are several ways to travel to Como Italy. Most travelers arrive at the Milan Airport and connect to Como by train. Airport options other than Milan include Bergamo or even Lugano Agno in Switzerland. Once you’ve arrived in Como, you can travel to other destinations on the lake by ferry or hydrofoil. Another excellent way to soak up your surroundings is to sign up for a seaplane tour. These small planes, which land on the lake, are sure to provide an adrenaline rush during your relaxing Italian vacation.

The city of Como Italy is home to a number of attractions you might want to check out, especially if you’re interested in history. The archeological museum is a great place to start. The ancient town hall, Broletto, is another popular attraction. For views, visit Castello Baradello, a medieval castle built in the twelfth century that overlooks the town. One of the most fascinating historic attractions in the town is called Villa Olmo. Built in the late eighteenth century, many important historical figures spent the night here including Napoleon and the Archduke of Austria Franz Ferdinand. There are also many churches to see here, including the Como Cathedral.

The most popular time to visit Como Italy seriously depends on who you ask. Many tourists are drawn to Como in the summer months, but these months can be not only very crowded, also hot. A better time to visit is during the shoulder seasons of spring and fall. If you can travel outside the months of July and August, you will experience Como as it is meant to be seen. The temperatures during the spring and fall months are also more pleasant than the hot summers. Winters are generally mild for those travelers that love to take advantage of off season deals.

Many travelers don’t know that the city of Como Italy is located only 25 miles north of Milan. This means that even if you aren’t planning an entire trip to explore the lake, that you can still plan a daytrip to see the beautiful city of Como. Once they arrive, most visitors want to stay. Hotels are available here in a range of prices, from basic three star hotels to more luxurious options. Vacation rentals are also an option if you’re looking to stay longer and enjoy water sports, dining, and local shopping. Views here are so captivating, that many travelers arrive with intentions of seeing churches and monuments, but instead wind up soaking up the atmosphere. Como is a place to come to relax.
