Villa Carlotta Tremezzo

The Villa Carlotta Tremezzo is one of the most famous of the villas and gardens near Lake Como. No trip to the Lake District would be complete without exploring these extravagant buildings, as they are not only a feast for the eyes, but they are also important parts of history. Villa Carlotta is one of the most famous; the villa, located right on the shores of Lake Como in the town of Tremezzo, was built in the late seventeenth century and is known for its lovely gardens.

Visitors today are attracted to the Villa Carlotta Lake Como because of the beautiful architecture and the fact that it is home to several important works of art. Paintings and sculptures are worth a visit, but don’t miss out on seeing the gardens, which are colorful and filled with gorgeous plants, including azaleas and rhododendrons. Located just eighteen miles from the town of Como, the villa is easy an easy day trip.

Villa Carlotta Tremezzo welcomes visitors from March through November, and is closed during the winter season. In general, opening hours are from 10 am to 4 pm, though the villa does stay open later during the summer months. Since 1927, the villa has been managed by a board that is in charge of its restoration and upkeep.

Travelers particularly remember Villa Carlotta for its stunning white façade. There are many other important villas on the lake to visit as well, including Villa Monastero Varenna and Villa del Babianello. Once you start exploring the villas of Lake Como, you will understand why the lake is so often used as a romantic backdrop in Hollywood films.
