Colosseum Tickets

Colosseum tickets give you the chance to see one of the wonders of the ancient world for yourself. For many travelers, the Colosseum is the first place they think about when they're planning (or dreaming) of visiting Rome. It's no surprise that tour tickets are some of the hottest in town. Once you've booked your tickets and made your way to Rome, you'll enter one of the most famous buildings in the world.

Today, the ancient monument is watched over by the Pierreci Codess Coopcultura Società Cooperativa. This Italian nonprofit manages and cares for the Colosseum as well as other attractions and museums throughout Rome and Italy. Over the years, the organization has worked to make it easier to obtain Colosseum tickets.

An electronic ticketing system was installed in 1997, and since then, a call center and online ticketing have been added to make sure everyone who wants a ticket can get one without waiting in a long line.

One of the most popular ticket packages gives you access to the Colosseum as the surrounding Palatine Hill. This two-day ticket means you can take your time visiting the ancient marvel, as well as the surrounding monuments from Rome's earliest days.

A guided tour can fill you in on the history of both the Colosseum, which was built some 500 years after some of Palatine Hill's structures. These Colosseum tickets can be printed at home or picked up onsite at the ticket office, which is helpful if you don't have a printer handy at your hotel.

Other options are available for Colosseum tours. Many of the tour operators include Colosseum tours in their vacation packages, so you don't even need to worry about the details of tickets. If you're more of an independent traveler, booking a short-term tour still has its benefits. One of the local tour companies can assist you in visiting the Colosseum and even provide a guide for your adventure.

A multiday attractions package—another option for a tour—will interest those who are really want to see the highlights of Rome.
