Rome Day Trip

A list of many, many Rome day trips and Rome tours could certainly only begin to give a tourist a feel for the ancient city of Rome. There are, however, some iconic attractions and famous landmarks that continue to draw travelers year after year. These attractions have been compiled to create Rome day trips that include visits to some of the best and brightest that Rome has to offer.
The Pantheon

Perhaps one of the greatest and most well-known attractions in Rome and a priority stop for any Rome day trips, the Pantheon looms in the center of the old section of Rome. Spend the day enjoy the Pantheon and maybe indulging in a meal somewhere within its view.
Roman Forum
The Roman Forum was once at the heart of life in Rome. Ruins are all that is left of this ancient legacy, but a day trip to the Roman Forum is well worth visiting, if for nothing other than the incredible feeling of centuries of history.
The Galleria Borghese
The Galleria Borghese is also located right in the city center of Old Rome, a famous and beautiful park and gallery. Spend the whole day exploring this incredible section of the city, and if you have time also checking out the Capitoline Museum and Palazzo dei Conservatori.
The Colosseum
Rome day tours of this section of the city will reveal the Colosseum and some other important landmarks in Rome. Your Rome tours can start at Capitoline Hill where you can see the Roman Forum area. The remains of the Imperial Forums can be seen from here, as well. Continue walking until you reach the Colosseum itself.
Domus Aurea
Spend a Rome day tour viewing the Domus Aurea, former stomping grounds of the emperor Nero. A nearby church, the church of San Pietro in Vincoli is also the resting place of Michelangelo’s Moses and worth checking out if you have time on your way back to the city center for dinner.
The Castelli Romani
These “Roman Castles” are in actuality hill towns rather than actual castles, and many of them are the homes of world class wineries and other fascinating attractions. Located close enough to the city to make for great day trips from Rome, trips to the hill towns can be a lot of fun. The hill towns for day trips from Rome include Marino, Rocca di Papa, Nemi, Ariccia, Albano and Frascati. Whether your plan to rent a car for these day trips from Rome to simply explore on your own or take public transportation to get a general sense of the most popular areas, these towns are a great way to experience a side of Italy that is a bit different than the large city of Rome.
However you plan to organize (or not organize) your Rome tours, the city of Rome will almost not allow travelers to go astray. Around almost every corner and down just about every alley, adventure and history await the curious traveler. Be sure to see the great sites of Rome, and yet at the same time be open to all of the wonder and mystery that only a city as ancient as Rome can offer.
