Sorrento Resorts

The Sorrento resorts aren't exactly akin to the kind of resorts that sit on long strips of sand and offer tons of watersport activity options. This is largely due to Sorrento's position. The town sits on rocky cliffs that meet the Tyrrenhian Sea, and the only real beach to speak of is quite small and pebbly. You can find this beach at Marina Grande. All this considered, some hotels in Sorrento offer some facilities that you might expect to find at a typical resort, and generally speaking, they have an upscale resort appeal.

No discussion about the best resorts in Sorrento Italy would be complete without mentioning the Espiridi Resort (pictured). Found due east of downtown Sorrento in the village of Sant'Agnello, this resort dubs itself as a tourist village, and thanks to its 4 star rating, guests can expect to enjoy an upscale lodging experience. Among the facilities at the Espiridi Resort are a pool, a club lounge, and a restaurant, while the accommodations include suites, apartments, and bungalows. Spa services are available for guests who wish to pamper themselves, and it's not difficult to arrange all kinds of regional excursions through the competent staff. Perhaps a trip to nearby Pompeii will be in order, or maybe shopping on the island of Capri will prove tempting. These are just two excursion ideas.

Another hotel that is worth keeping in mind when trying to find Sorrento resorts is the Grand Hotel La Favorita. Just a short walk from the beach at Marina Grande, this hotel enjoys a good location for those who wish to relax by the sea during their Sorrento escape. When guests aren't down at the beach, they can visit one of the nearby restaurants or dine at the hotel itself. Swimming in the hotel's rooftop pool is also a way to keep busy, and the views from the pool deck are certainly scintillating.

Other Sorrento hotels that easily double as resorts are the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria, the Best Western Hotel Solara, and the Hotel Antiche Mura. A pair of restaurants, a bar, a pool, and a spa are among the facilities at the luxurious Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria, while the Best Western Hotel Solara offers proximity to Puolo's beach and boasts some enticing facilities of its own. At the Hotel Antiche Mura, guests can indulge in a hydro-massage on the side while enjoying the relaxing pool area, and the solarium/sun terrace provides an excellent place to kick back and soak up some sun.

Some Sorrento hotels, such as the luxurious Bellevue Syrene, feature their own sunbathing decks on the sea. Elevators are in place to get guests down to these manmade beaches of sorts, and both umbrellas and lounge chaises are often in place for those who wish to take advantage.

Getting around the Sorrento region is relatively easy, as there are numerous transportation options, particularly during the peak summer season. As such, visitors to the region don't exactly have to limit themselves to Sorrento proper when trying to find a hotel with a resort feel. Found just three miles from Sorrento is the Punta Campanella Resort & Spa, and it can surely make for a wonderful area base. As the name would imply, this resort features a soothing spa. Travelers might also appreciate the resort's Blue Flag beach, its numerous restaurants, and its well-equipped guest units.
