Verona flights can be quite expensive depending on where you are departing from, but with a little research it’s possible to get an affordable ticket. Since the airports in Verona are quite small, they don’t take a huge influx of international flights, especially from the United States. The two airports are Verona Villafranca Airport and Verona Brescia Airport. Verona Villafranca is considered the main airport for the city and is located about five miles outside of the city proper.

If you don’t mind having one or more layovers, then you will have no problem getting yourself to the city of Romeo and Juliet. The majority of larger American airlines offer a connecting Verona flights from somewhere in Europe. US Airways, Continental, and Lufthansa all offer flights with one or more layovers leaving from the United States, though in many cases, two layovers are the norm.

If you prefer to fly direct or are trying to book the most affordable plane ticket, it is cheaper to fly into one of Italy’s main airports and then take a train to Verona. The cheapest flights to Verona Italy are into Rome Fiumicino and Rome Ciampino. They are the two most popular airports in Italy and they are both easily accessible by train. Another popular option is the Pisa airport. Those who are heading to Tuscany and the southern regions often fly into the airport at Pisa as Trenitalia has a station right there. All three airports service flights from all over the globe and see thousands of passengers a day.

Both Rome and Pisa are great hubs to connect to anywhere in the country as trains will get you to where you need go. There are trains running from Rome to Verona about every two hours and depending on which service you take, you can get there directly in about three hours. The train ticket to Verona from Rome is fairly reasonable considering the time and money you will save from having to book a flight with two layovers. The same goes for taking the train from Pisa to Verona. Although you may have to make two switches on the train, you will save a significant amount of money and will get there in about three and a half hours.

Alternatively, if you are already vacationing in Europe, you will be able to find the cheapest flights to Verona Italy from European airports. Budget airlines such as EasyJet, Ryanair, and Flybe all fly from major European hubs to Verona. Although the airports might be a bit further from the city that you would like, you will find that with transportation and the flight cost, you will end up saving money on your cheapest flights to Verona Italy.

Although at first it may seem that Verona flights are outside your budget, it’s likely that either flying to another city in Italy or taking a budget airline from elsewhere in Europe will help keep your trip under budget. As a last resort, you can also look for vacation packages that bundle Verona hotels with a plane or train ticket, which can result in significant discounts on both transportation and lodging.
