The availability of Budva travel arrangements may be of assistance in the growing popularity of the town. A small airport, Tivat Airport, is located a little more than ten miles away. While the airport receives mostly charter flights, it is possible to travel directly to this unspoiled area of the Adriatic Coast. From the capital city of Podgorica, Budva Montenegro is only approximately 40 miles. Podgorica Airport does receive some international flights, but budget airlines have not yet expanded into Montenegro. A coastal road, the Adriatic Highway, links all of the coastal towns and continues on towards Croatia. It has become increasingly popular for tourists to rent their own cars and make the drive from Dubrovnik, though this has resulted in a parking problem for the small town.

Approximately three miles from Budva is another coastal destination, Sveti Stefan. Translated as Saint Stephen, Sveti Stefan has been transformed from a sleepy fishing village to a resort of luxury hotels. Attention prior to the conflicts of the 1990s included visits from Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren, and Claudia Schiffer. The historic façades of the buildings have been preserved, while the inside has been renovated to include modern luxuries. While hotels in Budva tend to cater to the young, partying crowd, Sveti Stefan has focused on the luxury market. The prestigious hotel group Aman Resorts is interested in developing the town even further.

Hotels in Budva are known for being reasonable, and a room can be secured for roughly 40 to 50 euro per night. With a reputation of exciting nightlife, Budva tends to attract young partygoers looking for beach parties and nightclubs. This aspect of Budva travel has continued to attract visitors each spring (May and June) when the beaches are at their best. During the months of July and August, many local people take their holidays, and hotels in Budva may not be as easy to find. Visitors who arrive during this period may also find inflated prices as competition isn’t an issue. If you must travel during July and August, be sure to make reservations in advance.

The beaches and history of Budva are the main attractions. The Old Town is Venetian in style, and it contains three historic churches. This architecture and cultural heritage makes Budva more than just a beach vacation. And yet, the sandy beaches are what draw travelers to this area of the coastline.
