The Canals

A day spent inside a boat traveling the canals is one of the best Amsterdam day trips around. Amsterdam tours of the canals offer the fun of riding in a boat, as well as the chance to see some neat landmarks along the way. If you book a museum canal trip, your tours in Amsterdam by boat will last the better part of a day. Amsterdam tours of strictly the canal will last a couple of hours. In the afternoon, you can head over to one of the famous Amsterdam coffee shops, or if the coffee shop isn’t your style you can try a walking tour of some of the canals that may or may not have been a part of your tour, including Brewers’ Canal. You can also take a stroll past the Noordermarket, but only on Saturdays from 10am to 3pm.

Museumplein

This is the area of town where you will find three of Amsterdam’s most famous Museums. The Vincent Van Gogh, Stadsschouwburg and Rijksmuseums are all found here, and depending on the amount of time you’d like to spend at each can be a great part of tours in Amsterdam for the day.

Rotterdam

From Amsterdam, a trip to Rotterdam will take you about an hour. Day trips from Amsterdam to Rotterdam are incredibly popular, and travelers may experience a culture shock when witnessing the difference between the two cities. While Amsterdam maintains its 17^th century feel, the city of Rotterdam was built up from the rubble after World War II, when it was bombed to almost nothing. Utrecht

Another of the more popular day trips from Amsterdam is the 30 minute drive to the city of Utrecht. Once an economical powerhouse in the Netherlands, Utrecht has a host of interesting historical buildings and things to do all its own, including the Centraal Museum and the Domtoren and enormous cathedral with the tallest tower in the Netherlands.
