Lagos Portugal

Lagos Portugal

One of the few Algarve holiday resorts to maintain its identity as a real town and not just a tourist destination, Lagos Portugal is a fishing port and market town first and a holiday spot second. The ancient walls of Lagos Portugal remain after certain areas were restored.

There are numerous interesting statues and monuments that have been erected for famous past figures that are affiliated with the town’s history. Attached to the “gold” church of San Antonio in Lagos Portugal there is a small museum consisting of regional items, some which are slightly bizarre! The more recently constructed Marina in Lagos offers a pretty picture and the harbor is the first thing visitors will see.

Eating out in Lagos Portugal restaurants is a big part of what Lagos is about. There is a delicious array of fabulous dishes to try and when visiting definitely don’t miss the fresh fish! There are many dishes unique to the country and they are all readily available in the area. Mullen’s is one of the oldest and most successful Lagos Portugal restaurants around. Fabulous traditional meals are available all year-round and live music nights featuring performance by local musicians.

Another of Lagos Portugal restaurants extremely popular with locals and tourists for dining is A Forja. Value for money defines this eatery that dishes out traditional, large-portion meals. Go early or be ready to wait in line for a table in high season and don’t forget to ask about the specials of the day! Open for over two decades O Joao is a quaint and traditional restaurant and a must try when enjoying Lagos tourism. The seafood paella is a favorite here full of juicy mussels. When in Lagos take advantage of the traditional restaurants and make the most of the vast array of tantalizing menus.

Lagos travel to the area’s beaches provide visitors with some of the most beautiful shores in the Algarve region. The most highly regarded beach in Lagos is Ponta da Piedade which shelters the bay of the area with its rocks, caves and beautifully transparent waters. The sandiest beaches are arguably along the west coast in Algarve and this is also where the waves are the largest.

Lagos tours to beaches delivers some of the best water sports, clear waters and beachside activities in Algarve. Build a few sand castles, throw a frisbee around or just enjoy a refreshing swim. No matter what you prefer to do beachside, there will be a beach to suit your needs. This is evident in that most Lagos travel is done with the intention of enjoying the sandy shores.

Igreja de Sao Sebastiao is a picturesque church found on Praca Luis de Camoes and is another point of interest during Lagos tourism. There is a chapter house adjacent to this church built in the 15th century. Palacio dos Governadores is a beautiful palace which is partly formed by the old town wall. Another must during Lagos travel is a visit to Museu de Municipal de Lagos. Here visitors can see traditional azulejo tiles, and archaeological section and many interesting religious exhibits.

Lagos tourism in during the summer can be dry and warm with extended periods of sunshine. There are occasional summer rains but from June through to August is typically the driest. Lagos tourism isn’t complete without a walk to Praia de Camilo. This is a small beach where some peace and quiet can be found away from bustling Lagos tourism. One of the loveliest bays to visit during Lagos tourism is Praia de Dona Ana where rocky isles lie just off shore.

Lagos travel runs rampant in high season. Many attractions can be laden with tourists but they all offer many things to for tourists on holiday. Lagos includes exceptional landscape, gorgeous beaches and excellent dining and has a lot to offer travelers during Lagos tours for a full and exciting vacation.
