Suggested Itineraries Lisbon

If considering suggested itineraries Lisbon as a city opens up the best it has to offer. There are so many things to do in the Portugal capital that it can be an advantage to lay down some plans to get the most out of your visit. With suggested itineraries Lisbon attractions can be jotted down and classified into separate days and districts to keep travel down to a minimum.

1-3 Days

A few days is fairly brief yet there are must-sees in the city to discover before leaving. Culture and art permeate the city so make sure to visit the Gulbenkian Museum and easily spend a half day pouring over the art. Spend the traditional two hours dining at a Portugese restaurant for a hearty lunch. In the afternoon continue your art tracks and visit the Ancient Art Museum.

Hop on a tram and go back downtown to Baixa, the heart of the city. With suggested itineraries Lisbon has many sights downtown to take in. Stroll through alleyways, cobble stone streets, old squares and see old shops and cafes. Take time out to enjoy a satisfying meal in Baixa and then head over to the Lapa quarter for some traditional, late-night Fado music.

4-7 days

Rise early and begin Lisbon itineraries with a visit to the Alfama district following the sight of the top of the old castle. Add the above to a day spent wandering this famous district. Follow twisting and turning streets past several interesting churches and high-up lookout points. Visit St. George’s Castle and take in the fantastic views. Take a taxi or tram to the Tile Museum.

Lisbon itineraries should include a visit Belem via a tram westward. The wonderful and historical Torre de Belem can be explored here. Make sure to climb to the top for a magnificent view. Then walk over to the World Heritage monument of Jeronimos Monastery built in 1502. Stop at the illustrious Coaches Museum and take in the mode of transportation used by nobles in the old days.

The district of Parque das Nações can encompass a full day. Visit the world-famous Oceanarium. Stroll along the waterfront where the most modern and impressive of architecture in Lisbon is found. The Vasco da Gama Bridge is worth a walk across as well.

7+ Days

Add the above Lisbon itineraries to even more attractions to fill a full week or more. With 7+ days take a trip outside the city to Sintra with its affluent villas and magical palaces. A 30-minute drive will take visitors to this enchanting Roman city blended with fantasy and history. Extended Lisbon suggested itineraries should include a trip to Mafra to see the magnificent and colossal Baroque royal palace.

Also worth a look is Estoril, home to the largest casino in Europe and many great Portugal golf courses. If there is time Lisbon suggested itineraries should also include the short trip to the “Wedding Present Town” of Abates, given to Queen Isabel by King Dinis. The whole village has been declared a monument and it is considered one of the most romantic places in Europe.

Lisbon suggested itineraries can easily be filled to the brim with sights and attractions. If there is time, take an afternoon to stroll through the unique barrios of Chiado, Barrio Alto and Uptown and you won’t be disappointed!
