Barcelona Tourist Attractions

Barcelona tourist attractions are seemingly endless, and many travelers aren’t sure where to begin. One of the best places to start is La Rambla, a series of short streets that run from the Placa de Catalunya to the harbor. There are several restaurants here and excellent places to visit, including the grand opera house and the Centre d’Art Santa Monica, a public museum. Barcelona sightseeing enthusiasts who are interested in contemporary art will love the museum, located in Rambla de Santa Monica, and it hosts regular exhibitions from international artists. The grand opera house, known as Gran Teatre del Liceu, is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Las Ramblas. It was opened in 1847 and is one of the world's finest opera houses.
To get some of the best views of the city and appreciate the seaside setting, just stroll down the beautiful streets and head to the harbor. Here you can climb the 256-foot San Sebastian Tower and see across Barcelona. You can also visit the Barcelona Aquarium, which is located near the port and is one of the most popular attractions in Barcelona Spain. This is a popular attraction among families, and the exhibitions include mollusks, Humboldt penguins, and starfish. Guided tours are also available.
Barcelona is one of the best places to visit in Spain for travelers who are fond of art and culture. Many Barcelona tourist attractions are artistically focused, and fans of Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro will find excellent museums dedicated to exhibiting some of their best works, among other artists. The Montjuic hill boasts some of the best area museums, such as the Fundacio Joan Miro. Montjuic is also famous for the Magic Fountain, whose water shows combine light, color, and the beautiful wave motion of the water. These enticing elements make this a consistently popular place to visit. The fountain was built in 1929, and since then it has been visited by tourists and residents alike throughout the year. If you’re interested in a Barcelona sightseeing tour around the Montjuic mountains, you can take a cable car from Barceloneta, in the port area.
Barcelona sightseeing is also very popular at the Picasso Museum, which is located in Montcada and is one of the prime attractions in Barcelona Spain. It boasts some of the finest Picasso paintings, displayed in chronological order and arranged to give fascinating insight into the distinctive artwork and continuously evolving style of the great painter. The permanent collection comprises more than 3,800 works. Opened in 1963, the Barcelona Picasso museum shows Picasso's intimate relationship with Barcelona and its ambience.
The Placa de Catalunya is also one of the most popular Barcelona tourist attractions, particularly because of the remarkable architecture throughout the area. This large town square is considered the city center of Barcelona, and it’s also the place where the older Barri Gotic and Ciutat Vella meet the newer area of Eixample. The area boasts some of the finest houses designed by the master architect Antoni Gaudi. You will also find traces of his exquisite designs throughout the attractions in Barcelona Spain, including the acclaimed Sagrada Familia. Located in Calle Mallorca, the Sagrada Familia is a giant Roman Catholic church which has been under construction since 1882 and still remains unfinished. It draws thousands of visitors each year, who come to worship or to see what is often considered Gaudi’s masterwork.
