Ibiza Hostels

There are not really traditional Ibiza hostels that have the typical dormitory-style rooms, communal kitchens, bathrooms, and lounges. You may see cheap hostels in Ibiza advertised, but these are primarily little Ibiza pensions or budget hotels and apartments. You also will see a number of properties called “hostals.” This is a Spanish word for an inexpensive hotel that will typically have basic private rooms and a small restaurant or café and bar. Sometimes a bathroom is shared, but most often they are private. These are common throughout Spain, as well as South America, Central America, and California. However, you will find plenty of cheap Ibiza lodging all over the island, in small and larger towns and along beaches.

One property that calls itself one of the cheap hostels in Ibiza is the Don Juan on the west end “Sunset Strip” of San Antonio. This is the section of the town where visitors flock for cocktails and fantastic sunsets before they head off to enjoy the town’s legendary wild parties and nightlife. This cheap Ibiza lodging is a traditional Spanish hostal, with a small coffee shop and bar ,and 30 modest rooms all with private bath and most with terraces.

Many of the other properties that may be listed as cheap hostels in Ibiza are residencias—self-catering apartments with kitchenettes that generally do not have a restaurant associated with them. These often have enough bedrooms, beds, and convertible couches that a good number of people can stay in one, creating the atmosphere of Ibiza hostels complete with a chorus of snoring and other noises and a large mess in the kitchen sink. These are very popular with young people who come to party all night long and crash on the beaches during the day, so the lack of ambiance is not so important. A great value in this category is the Bossa Mar Apartments, located right on Playa den Bossa in Ibiza Town and only a five-minute walk from the famous Space nightclub. It can be noisy, but you can’t beat the location. This is one of the exceptions to the rule, as it has an excellent café serving traditional English breakfast. It is also part of the huge Jet Apartments complex that has several property standards from one to four-star, so you have full use of the facilities, including swimming pools.

The closest thing to real Ibiza hostels is also part of the Jet Apartments complex on Playa den Bossa outside Ibiza Town. The Arlanza Apartments are set back from the main beach, and are basic but comfortable two-bedroom units with convertible sofas in the living area. They can sleep up to six people. Many of the young people from Europe who come for the parties (the Alranza Apartments are within walking distance of the legendary Space Nightclub) book vacation packages as roommates with strangers. The Arlanza Apartments offer safety deposit boxes to store valuables for those who want them. The restaurant here is a cafeteria style dining area, and there is maid service only once a week unless you pay an additional fee. This is the best cheap Ibiza lodging in the heart of the most happening place on the island.
