The Hotel Maritimo Ibiza is located below the UNESCO World Heritage Dalt Vila, the old part of Ibiza Town with its ancient hilltop walled citadel. The new Maritimo Hotel in Ibiza is set directly on Figueretas Beach, the beach above famous Playa den Bossa. It's possible to walk all the way down Playa den Bossa to the legendary Bora Bora Beach Bar for sundowners, and then to walk to the nearby famous Space Club for all-night parties. It's suggested you take a taxi or the Disco Bus back, depending on how much you've had to drink. This lodging near Ibiza Town is also within walking distance of another of the island's famous nightclubs, Pacha, the oldest club on the island with the famous hippie "Flower Power" party.
The Hotel Maritimo Ibiza is an excellent choice if you have arrived on the island by ferry from Valencia or Barcelona on the Spanish mainland, or from Palma de Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands. The ferry terminal is only about 1,000 feet or so away, and you can walk if you have rolling luggage or a small amount of luggage. This option for lodging near Ibiza Town is also convenient for day excursions to nearby Formentera Island, which is visible from the beach in front of the hotel. Formentera is a pristine island with almost no development at all, and its beaches are completely unspoiled and couldn't be more different than the nonstop partying of Playa den Bossa.
Rooms at the Maritimo Hotel in Ibiza are air conditioned (an excellent feature during the hot summer weather) and have satellite television. Some have sea views. There is a small indoor heated swimming pool, fitness center with Jacuzzi, snack café and restaurant with buffet-style meals, and a pleasant terrace bar overlooking the beach. Unlike most of Playa den Bossa, Figueretas Beach in front of the Maritimo Hotel in Ibiza has shade in the form of numerous palm trees, meaning you sunbathe as well as enjoy the beach when you've had enough sun.
You can rent motorcycles at the front desk for excursions to the charming rural villages in the island's interior, or to get yourself to beaches like Las Salinas, which is a few miles away. Every Wednesday, special excursions are organized to visit the famous market in Santa Eulalia. If you decide to head inland for some clubbing at Amnesia or Privilege, it's highly recommended that you take the Disco Bus or a taxi. Things to do on the beach in front of the Hotel Maritimo Ibiza include jet ski and pedalo rental, banana boats, water skiing, and parasailing. If the wind is up in the afternoons, this is a great windsurfing area.
This lodging near Ibiza Town is not one of the island's luxury hotels, even though it presents itself in that light. It is a good three-star property with an extraordinarily quiet location near all the party spots in the area, but still far enough away to provide some peace and serenity.
