Madrid Attractions

Madrid attractions offer something for every visitor, and since there is so much to see and do in the Spanish capital, you might need more than just a few days to fit it the many tourist attractions in Madrid. Simply making the rounds at the many fine museums could fill a few days time, and you're likely to fall in love with tapas and the city's other abundant dining options in no time. As much a culinary capital as it is a cultural capital, Madrid has little trouble keeping its visitors happy when it comes to food and drink, but when you need a break from all the eating and sightseeing, unwinding in the inviting Retiro Park can be a fine endeavor. This large urban park is akin to New York City's Central Park in many ways, and Madrid locals love to visit it when they find themselves with some free time.

When you're in the mood to spend some time in the park on your Madrid escape, the large Casa de Campo area provides plenty of green space to enjoy. There are also many other parks in and around town that can also be good places to relax. The Casa de Campo, it is worth noting, is more than just a big green space where you can go jogging or biking. Inside its boundaries are the Madrid Zoo and Aquarium, a small amusement park, and a municipal swimming pool that can be especially enticing during the hot summer months. You can also rent a small boat and paddle your way around the lake at the Casa de Campo, as is true at the Retiro Park as well. The Royal Botanical Garden and the Teleferico are two more tourist attractions in Madrid in this vein. The Teleferico, it should be noted, is a cable car ride that affords wonderful views of the city's layout.

When you're not eating tapas, visiting museums such as the Prado, or hanging out in the park on a trip to Madrid, there is an array of other options for things to do. Checking out the main Madrid landmarks is a popular pursuit. El Escorial is worth considering. The regal Palacio Real, the building-top Tio Pepe advertisement in the Puerta del Sol, and the Las Ventas Bullring figure among the many landmarks that can be found in the Spanish capital. Plaza Mayor is yet another, filled with attractive buildings, a central statue, and a delightful atmosphere.

The Madrid landmarks are numerous, and should you make a break for the Plaza de Cibeles, you can check out a few of them at the same time. Among the monuments that can be found at this beautiful plaza is the unforgettable Palacio de Comunicaciones, which is renowned for its stunningly unique design. Many Madrid attractions cater to architectural enthusiasts, and even if you are only slightly interested in architecture, the city's many lovely edifices are bound to impress. At night, many of the more spectacular Madrid landmarks and buildings are illuminated in grand fashion, making evening walking tours through the city as rewarding as walking tours during the day, as well as a great complement to the superb nightlife here.

If you are traveling with kids, taking a trip to the nearby Parque Warner Amusement Park can make an ideal side trip in this case. Should you be a soccer fan, seeing a match at the famed Santiago Bernabeu Stadium is worth planning, while those who are up for a spectacle of a more controversial kind can try to get tickets to a bullfight. Madrid, it should be noted, is home to two major soccer franchises, and if you can't get tickets for a Real Madrid game at Bernabeu, you can always try to take in an Atletico de Madrid game at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.

The tourist attractions in Madrid can keep everyone in your group entertained, from bar hoppers to art buffs to children. Madrid attractions are varied, interesting, and plentiful, making the capital city of Spain a great destination to visit.
