Madrid Vacations

Madrid vacations are available for a wide variety of budgets that will satisfy the interests and desires of just about anyone. Madrid vacation packages can be ideal for budget conscious young people, families with children looking to save money wherever possible, or any traveler who would rather combine deals and simplify planning. Typically, packages include international flights, accommodations in cheap hotels or even hostels, and perhaps some tours.

Often Madrid vacation apartments are the accommodation of choice. These allow visitors to save money on dining out costs, give families the privacy they need where they don’t have to worry about children disturbing other guests, and allow young people a cheap place to stay by cramming as many people as possible into an apartment. Some Madrid vacation packages are only for a couple nights, and are only an extension for a longer stay on the beaches. Visitors who come to enjoy the beaches (Barcelona and Valencia on the east coast, and the Costa del Sol on the southern coast) for a week or so will often book a couple days to see the celebrated sights of Madrid while they’re in the country. Although there are direct flights from many major cities in Europe to the Balearic Islands, many people on their way to destinations such as Ibiza, will connect in Madrid and choose to layover in the capital city for a few days en route.

More and more Madrid vacation packages are geared towards the upscale tourist, with private airport transfers in chauffeured limousines, accommodations in opulent rooms and suites in luxury hotels, and elite entry into some of the best nightlife spots and flamenco shows. Many of these hotels also have full-service spas and many luxury Madrid vacations will include spa services.

Madrid vacation rentals can provide another form of luxury accommodations, and you can find elegant apartments and condominiums in the most exclusive residential areas in the center of the city. Many of these Madrid vacation rentals are available directly from the owners, but there are brokers and operators who list the best of them. Since the central city and its major attractions are found within such a compact area, good residential areas will still have easy access to the sights. The neighborhoods just north of Retiro Park are quiet and refined. You can walk to the park and to several of the museums. There are also stations for the metro and trains quite nearby, so you can get just about anywhere quickly and conveniently.

You’ll also find less expensive Madrid vacation rentals around Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol, the hub of the city’s history and daily activities, as well as the location of some of the best tapas bars. These offer furnished apartments that are clean, comfortable, and modest in historic buildings with good security. Some apartments have balconies, and you can book them with maid and other services for an additional charge. One thing to remember about all but the most luxurious city apartments (as well as hotels) is that the rooms are often small by American standards. Madrid vacations that stay in these kinds of city center accommodations are designed to take advantage of the superb location.
