Saltsjon Cruise

The many lakes, rivers and inlets surrounding Sweden and Stockholm make Sweden boat tours an excellent way to see the area.  In fact, about 13% of Stockholm’s territory is covered by water.  Stockholm Sweden tours are not only a great way to see the city, but can also be a nice way to rest your tired feet and take a break from sightseeing in Sweden on foot.

Almost all major hotels in Stockholm offer places for the registration of Sweden boat tours.   One popular type of Sweden boat tours is the open top boat tour.  The open boat tour will take travelers pas the Royal Palace, the famous Vasa Museum, and Gamla stan, as well as other hotspots on typical sightseeing in Sweden tours.    This tour runs only in the summer, from the beginning of June until the end of August.  One great feature of this kind of Stockholm Sweden tours is that traveler’s purchase a ticket which is valid for 24 hours, so travelers can get on and off the boat at all five of its stop throughout those 24 hours.  This means that you plan an entire day of sightseeing in Sweden with one open boat tour ticket.

Another of the great Stockholm Sweden tours by boat is the Royal Canal Tour.  The Royal Canal tour takes travelers through the canals of Djurgarden Island, Vasa Museum, Sodermalm and Slussen.  This tour runs from mid March until mid October, with changing schedules throughout the year.  Your hotel or registration point will have the most up to date information about schedules.  A similar tour, which runs only in the summer, is the Historical Canal Tour, with goes through Fjallgatan, Kungsholmen, Djurgarden and the Vasa Museum.

One unique type of Stockholm Sweden tours by boat is the tour called Under the Bridges of Stockholm.  As the name suggests, this tour takes travelers under some of the best bridges in Stockholm.  While sailing along through the sea and Lake Malaren, the boat will pass under 15 different bridges and offer views of 2 notable rock faces.  This tour runs from the beginning of May through the middle of September.

If you want to combine your boat tour with a bus tour, you can also try the Stockholm in a Nutshell tour.  Travelers will first board a bus to see some of Stockholm’s best attractions from the comfort of a bus.  Next, travelers will hop on a bus in Djurgarden and see some of the great attractions of Stockholm from the water.  Beginning in march, this tour runs through August, with a few additional dates in October and December.
