Zermatt Hotels

The Zermatt hotels offer a range of types of accommodations, so visitors shouldn't have trouble finding one that suits their needs. For those who are on a budget, some of the hotels in Zermatt offer no frills rooms. Others boast deluxe rooms that can impress even the most discriminating of travelers. In addition to a range of good hotels, those who are searching for Zermatt lodging can also consider the vacation rental properties, which include apartments, condos, cottages, and chalets. Booking a stay at one of the Zermatt hotels tends to be more convenient, though both the hotels and the vacation rentals have their advantages.

The Riffelalp Resort 2222 isn't found in town, but that doesn't seem to bother most guests. This luxurious Zermatt lodging is worth the extra twenty-minute cog-railway ride. The Riffelalp Resort enjoys a quiet location up the mountain from Zermatt, and it is surrounded by some of the best ski slopes in the world. During the summer months, guests will enjoy easy access to wonderful hiking trails. When it comes to Swiss Alps hotels, few offer as much as the Riffelalp Resort 2222 (pictured). The 65 guest units, which come in the form of rooms, suites, and apartments, are full of five-star amenities. These amenities include cable TV in multiple languages, DVD players, Wi-Fi, and mini bars. The décor in the guest units is more of a subdued luxury, and it blends nicely with the alpine setting. The best units feature balconies that offer views of the surrounding mountains. Outside of the cozy guest units, guests can unwind at the resort's delectable spa. The dining facilities are also very inviting. There are four excellent restaurants at the Riffelalp, and it is also home to a relaxing lounge and a chic bar. During the winter months, the après-ski festivities at the bar can get lively. There is a lot to like about the Riffelalp Resort 2222, but for those who want to be closer to town, other luxurious Zermatt hotels like the Grand Hotel Zermatt will be a better fit.

The Parkhotel Beau Site is one of the more attractive hotels in Zermatt, and while the rates are relatively high, they are worth every penny. The walk to the center of town from the Parkhotel Beau Site only takes about five minutes, and the owners go to great lengths to make sure that guests feel at home. There are seven different guest unit categories to choose from at this upscale Zermatt lodging gem, with the Tower Suite being the most expensive. Some of the rooms and suites here offer fantastic views of the Matterhorn, and they figure among the most coveted accommodations. Ample furnishings can be found in all of the guest units, and other standard amenities include cable TV, air conditioning, and complimentary bath products. When guests aren't relaxing in their clean and spacious rooms at the Parkhotel Beau Site, they can enjoy the hotel's wellness area. Massages and beauty treatments are on offer in the wellness area, and the facilities include an indoor pool, plenty of patio space, a whirlpool, and a Finnish sauna. Three different dining rooms figure among the hotel's overall facilities, and the onsite piano bar is a good place to unwind. Elegant drinks and fine cigars are offered in the bar.

There are some very attractive upscale hotels in Zermatt, but for those who wish to spend less on accommodations, mid-range hotels like the Coeur des Alpes are worth keeping in mind. This delightful Zermatt lodging establishment rests on a hill above the heart of town, and the views are divine. There are cheaper mid-price hotels to choose from, but few can match the value. The guest rooms and suites here, which are few in number, are tastefully decorated. Cable TV, a mini bar, a telephone, a clock radio, and a safe are just some of the standard amenities that can be found in all of the guest units. The more upscale units are understandably more expensive, and they include the spacious Sky Apartment. A spa figures among the overall facilities at the Coeur des Alpes, and the all around atmosphere is about as inviting as it gets.

When searching for an affordable accommodation in Zermatt, the hostels offer the lowest rates. There are also many lower-priced hotels around town that are worth considering if there is room in the budget. One of the best Zermatt lodging values is the Le Petite Hotel, which is less than a ten-minute walk away from the ski slopes. One of the advantages to staying in a hotel like this versus a hostel is the fact that all of the guest rooms have private bathrooms. Cable TV is also available in all sixteen guest units. While the guest rooms here aren't luxurious, they are clean and well furnished, which is all that some travelers need. Included in the low rates is a continental breakfast, and the hotel offers a rooftop patio with views of the Matterhorn. When the sun is shining and the weather is reasonably warm, the rooftop patio duals as a sun terrace.
