Virtually every major international airline offers flights to Turkey with Istanbul as the primary destination, since almost all visitors coming to the country for their vacations will fly to Turkey via this great city and will spend a at least a couple nights here at the beginning and/or end of the trip. There are cheap flights to Turkey available on many of the scheduled departures if you book in advance, and do some research.

Istanbul is also the embarkation or disembarkation point for a great number of large ocean liners that do cruises through the Mediterranean countries of Italy, Greece, Egypt, and Turkey, and the cruises lines often have rock bottom cheap flights to Turkey as part of their cruise tours.

The main exceptions to visiting Istanbul, are those people who fly to Turkey only for vacations on the beaches of the beautiful Turquoise Coast. These are primarily visitors from Western European countries, who have been frequenting the beaches here on a regular basis for nearly forty decades. Some nationalities will sometimes travel to one of the beaches simply for a long weekend getaway. Many of these people will never get to Istanbul or the country’s interior during their stay.

There are many choices for cheap flights to Turkey available for Europeans, especially those from Germany and the United Kingdom. In these countries, the newspapers and travel industry publications are full of offers for vacation packages that include airfare to Turkey as well as airport to hotel transfers and sometime meals and tours.

There are three primary destinations for fights to Turkey for those going from Europe and staying only at the beaches and coastal regions. The Dalaman Airport and the airports at Izmir and Antalya Airport all have direct service from Europe during the summer months. An American can secure one of these flights if they have a friend or connection in Europe who can purchase them. Most of these flights to Turkey go into Antalya. Those who via Antalya will be staying in the resorts around Lara Beach or perhaps participate in golf holidays around Alanya. They also may be coming to this sailing and yachting center for cruises along the coast and to the islands of Greece.

People who fly to Turkey aboard Izmir flights will be spending their time in the Cesme area or in Fethiye, location of three of the country’s most popular beaches, Oludeniz Beach, Callis Beach, and the pristine national park around Patara Beach. For beach resorts around Marmaris (location of Icmeler Beach) and Bodrum, most people use the Dalaman Airport. Even if people come only for a beach vacation, there are numerous attractions close by, and these people will take tours to the great ruins of Ephesus and visit the bazaars, mosques, and museums in the coastal cities.

There are cheap flights to Turkey available for tourists from the United States and North America. Most of these tourists participate in itineraries of ten to fourteen days, visiting Istanbul, several of the major attractions in the country’s interior such as Cappadocia and Pamukkale, as well as spending a day or two on the beaches. The best airfares are available from tour companies that offer vacation packages.
