About six miles south of Marmaris center, the luxurious and secluded Villa Florya Beach Resort is set in beautiful Turunc Bay at the end of a long and winding road. The Villa Florya Resort Turkey overlooks the two miles of black sand on Kumlubuk Beach, one of the most pristine and isolated beaches on the peninsula. Getting here can be difficult if you do not have access to your own car rentals, as the relatively short distance will take a drive of between 45 and 60 minutes and there is no regular public transportation. However, the resort will arrange for your transfers either from Marmaris or from Dalaman airport (the latter can be expensive). Additionally, the Blue Cruises yachts make regular lunchtime and evening trips between Kumlubuk and Marmaris.
With only fourteen rooms and a capacity of no more than 28 guests, the Villa Florya in Marmaris is one of the best boutique hotels in the area, but it is not for you if you are looking for the best of the city’s celebrated lively nightlife. There is little entertainment here and only a couple other hotels. The Villa Florya Resort Turkey is also not for people with walking difficulties or disabilities, as there are many stairs and inclined paths and walkways to get around the grounds and property.
This is where visitors who really want to get away from it all come for their vacations. And, if you have your own transportation, the Villa Florya Beach Resort is an excellent base for discovering the remote and virtually unpopulated tip of the peninsula. There are some charming small fishing communities where you can actually watch local shipbuilders build the traditional Turkish gulets used for cruises along the Turquoise Coast, and excellent mountain hiking opportunities. Villa Florya in Marmaris is within a good morning’s hike of some undeveloped ancient Greek ruins and there is even a nearby cave to explore.
The Villa Florya in Marmaris has a bar overlooking the bay that serves snacks, and breakfast is included. But there is no restaurant to speak of for your evening dining. Most guests go to nearby restaurants for their evening meal, and there are a handful of other restaurants and several bars to choose from.
The rooms of the Villa Florya Resort Turkey are spacious and air-conditioned, built on a rocky outcropping that juts into the bay. All have balconies for fabulous views of the sea, black sand beaches, and boats coming and going. The double horseshoe of the bay has a two-mile-long black sand and shingle beach. The bay is protected, so the waters are almost always calm, making this a great swimming beach and the rocky coastline is good for snorkeling and scuba diving. Around the point from Turunc Bay is Amos Bay, very beautiful and almost always deserted. If you like, you can charter a boat and go sailing for a day and a picnic lunch in this bay. Both of these bays where the Villa Florya Beach Resort is located are actually private land, purchased by one of the country’s wealthiest men who vowed the beaches and surrounding land would always be available to the public.
