Gatwick Airport

Gatwick Airport is the second largest and second busiest of the international London airports after Heathrow. For visitors from the United States, the location of these airports is less important than the convenience of the international flights from home that they have chosen. Generally, they fly into whichever of the two matches their preferred schedule. However, it is possible in many cases to choose which airport you land at, and oftentimes you will find that Gatwick Airport departures will land you in a much more optimal geographic location for what you plan to do in the city and surrounding area. The Gatwick Express also provides one of the most convenient methods for getting into London with its terminus at centrally located Victoria Station in the City of Westminster.
Getting to your Gatwick Airport departures is easy and convenient. High speed Gatwick Express trains between Victoria Station and the airport depart every 30 minutes, and the journey takes only 30 minutes. The station is a major station for the underground, and connects all parts of the city in addition to National Rail trains to all points in the UK and within the city itself.
While Gatwick Airport is actually further from London than Heathrow, the traffic around Heathrow in the Borough of Hillingdon is extremely heavy because it is located within the M25 highway ring that completely encircles London. If you have friends collecting you when you land, they will probably prefer Gatwick unless they live on North London or West London. Additionally, if you’re taking advantage of car rentals, you will find some lovely countryside and two notable castles around Gatwick. Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, is a small structure more like a large country manor house with beautiful gardens and is a popular venue for special events such as weddings. Arundel Castle was built in 1068 and is a true castle. It’s a magnificent fortress, a portion of which is still occupied by the family of the Dukes of Norfolk, and is open to the public for tours. It's easy to start off your London vacations right after landing at this modern and convenient airport due to the great transportation options and nearby attractions.
