London Tourism

London tourism is vibrant and thriving in this, the most populous metropolitan area in the entire European Union. People come from all over the world to visit the museums, theatres, and landmarks, as well as to see music festivals, go shopping in world-class retail districts, and to simply take in the sights and sounds of one of the oldest and most significant centers for culture in Western Europe. When to go to London will depend upon what it is that you plan to do.

The events calendar throughout the year is packed full of concerts, festivals, and other events that, if you are interested in them, may help you choose the time of year you should go. The best time to travel to London is anytime you get a chance. Tourism is always present in this major city so if you are making your decision solely on when it is the least busy, you should consider other factors as well. The busiest tourist months are July and August when the weather in London is the most consistently warm and sunny. Planning your trip to around these months is largely a futile exercise as you are going to have to deal with London tourism year round anyway. The fact is that London travel is just too popular to keep people away and unless you have a dread fear of crowds, other tourists are not likely to upset the course of your trip at all.

If you are planning your London travel around an extended stay in the UK, then you have a lot of room in terms of deciding where to stay. If, however, you are only planning to be in London for a week or less, you should be advised that the best way to cut down on travel time (so you can fit in more attractions) is to try to stay as close to the center of town as possible. When you stay for a longer period of time, you may not care so much that a full half-day is spent aboard a train to the countryside. You don’t have this kind of time to waste if you are only in town for a few days. London has a huge array of accommodations from luxury hotels to hostels that meet the needs of everyone’s budget located in the heart of the city. Look into areas such as Bloomsbury and Islington for potentially cheap accommodations that are still located in cool neighborhoods and nearby popular attractions as well as tube stations.

The best time to travel to London has everything to do with what you plan for yourself once you arrive. Although winter can be bitter, the sight of the Thames with Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament rising up in the horizon as snow gently falls will make you second guess whether or not winter is the best time to travel to London. London is not after all known for its tropical climate and warm weather. It is known for its rich cultural diversity and inexhaustible list of activities and popular attractions. London tourism is as popular as it is for very good reason. There is never a shortage of things to do or places to see. Book your London travel as far in advance as you can to get the best rates in the locations of your choice.
