Re: Visiting London in December? I love London, but I don't think it's a great place to spend Christmas. It's never cold enough for snow but it's too cold to spend any decent amount of time outside. Oxford St becomes a nightmare from the end of November and the weather pushes everyone inside pubs where one can never find a seat let alone hold a conversation.
Out in the country is a far better place to spend Christmas, the pace is slower the weather is more tolerable and when snow does eventually fall, it's magical.
Really though I am not a fan of a northern hemisphere Christmas, I prefer to spend my time soaking up the sun as well as the festive spirit. Parties with friends and barbecues on the beach are my ideal way to celebrate Christmas and herald in the new year.
London is best enjoyed in Spring while the air is still crisp the tourists stay away and everyone is in lovely mood of anticipation of the summer to come... |
