San Francisco is one of the easiest cities to get around in. There are several public transportation methods within the city that allow easy access to almost everywhere in the city and suburbs.

Taxi ranks are readily available at the entrances to the larger hotels. San Francisco is not a large city, so taking a cab from time to time is a good option. Hailing a cab can be a challenge in the city, so it’s best to make advance arrangements or to grab one from a city hotel. Private limo is also an option, but usually the priciest. Limos are more practical for day-trips outside the city to Napa Valley and Santa Cruz.

BART
Bay Area Rapid Transit System offers service within the city and includes service to Oakland and more recently San Francisco airports. It is easy to use and the stations are clean and safe. Tickets on BART are purchased at kiosks at the entrances to each station. Service is fun but unfortunately does not run 24 hours a day.

MUNI
MUNI provides service via bus, light rail, trolley and those famous cable cars within the city of San Francisco. It is a city wide system that is networked so well that transfers from light-rail to cable car to BART is usually seamless and hassle free. Lines can take you to the San Francisco Zoo, Stonestown Mall, Ocaean Beach, Fisherman’s Wharf and much more.
