Certainly not JohnMcIntosh, I have visited
Nepal 3 times and stayed at Kathmandu twice. I don't feel it's an expensive city. Kathmandu city offers an extensive range of places to stay from cheap hotels to expensive international style 5 star hotels - all at affordable prices. You can get the cheap Kathmandu hotels from $5 per night with basic facilities including hot shower, toilet, foam mattresses and clean sheets. If you go far little more luxurious, then the rent could be between $15 and $40 per night and the room has furniture, attached bath etc. The most luxurious hotels in Kathmandu cost you about $100-$300 per night, but affordable. Many of the hotels in Kathmandu offer tour packages for visitors convenience. Rental cars in Kathmandu are reasonably priced and buses are very cheap but crowded & a little time consuming. You can even rent motorbikes for a cheaper price. If you wish to experience
trekking in Nepal, then trek around the beautiful
Kathmandu Valley and get an exciting experience. I did a Kathmandu valley trek during my last visit, it was a short trek only but got an amazing experience. Hope you too!
