Hi Spaniola,

Germany is a wonderful place to visit. The best time is in summer or Autum (avoid the school holidays around August though).

Getting around Germany is very easy by train, you can pre-purchse tickets called Eurail or Interail, which give you flexibility with dates and destinations. Germany's train system is one of the best in the world, and is a breeze to use.

As for an organised tour, there are plenty of Contiki's or Topdeck travel tours that are worth looking into, although they are a bit rigid... you'll end up getting up at 7am some mornings just to visit a major tourist attraction with hundreds of others. But they are FUN.
