Children could handle any of the sections mentioned above - all of them have cable cars up. But I wouldn't recommend a visit to Simatai alone as it is particularly steep. Mainly, it would depend on how you're getting there. If you're taking public transport then Badaling is best as the trip is quick and easy. They also might enjoy the train down the wall at Badaling. If you're taking private transport then it depends how well they handle long drives.
