Re: Which Place Is The Best Both islands have a lot to offer and, if possible, you should try to spend some time on each island. There are great travel deals available to Hawaii right now, so your dollar will go farther. On Maui, where I live, there are many places to see including the drive to Hana, sunrise at Haleakala (the volcano with a crater the size of the island of Manhattan!), luaus with authentic Hawaiian food, hula, and fire knife dancers, beautiful uncrowded sandy beaches, great snorkeling, and friendly people. Oahu offers more cosmopolitan cultural sights, with their own opera, symphony, Waikiki, a large downtown, the Arizona Memorial and the Might Mo, Hawaiian Waters waterpark, Diamond Head hiking, and lots of nightlife and entertainment available. If you choose Oahu, don't miss beautiful Kailua and perhaps a quick hike up to the Lanikai pillboxes (you can google "Lanikai Pillboxes" for maps and directions of the hike), it only takes about 10 minutes and the views/photo opportunities are absolutely stunning.
Good luck! |
