Question Visas to Brazil

I'm trying to get a visa to go to brazil in December. I applied for a tourist visa, and on my application it said i'm going to a language school there - my mistake. with a tourist visa, you can't attend any school. my application was returned with intructions to apply for a IV student visa but that's for people pursuing degree programs, so i'm not sure which visa to apply for now. i'll be at the language school for only 2 weeks, and other than that i'll be being a tourist. so do they need to know that i'm going to learn portuguese for two weeks there, or should I forget the school idea and just get a tourist visa? or apply for a different student visa (if so, which one - I, IV...?)
Hope someone has some ideas, thanks,
