Hi there,
The
Shawnee National Forest is an ideal place for camping. It extends over 270,000 acres of mountaintops and rugged rock formations between the borders of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers.
If you want a great view of the
Garden of Gods Wilderness, I would suggest staying at the Pharaoh Campgrounds where you have easy access to attractions such as Camel Rock and Devil's Smokestack.
The Johnson Creek Campgrounds located in Ava Illinois are also a great place to camp as it features hitching rails and picket lines for equestrian campers.
Hope this helps
