Hi there,

One of the things to do in Winterset is to take a scenic drive and discover all of Winterset bridges . These bridges were built between the 1870s and 1880s and only six remain. In fact, the timeless scenery of Winterset inspired the novel and movie 'The Bridges of Madison County'.

While you drive around this beautiful town you can visit the wineries in the area. In fact, one of the wine trails is entirely dedicated to the Amana Colonies and covers four historic wineries such as Ackerman Winery.

If you intend to travel during the October month, Winterset holds the Covered Bridge Festival where you can witness old-time handcraft demonstrations by local artisans and enjoy a wide variety of food, music, and entertainment such as the antique vehicle parade and tours of the bridges.
