Well summer in Alaska is great for fishing but somehow I don't think you'll be up for that. As far as taking photos, Juneau is a great place to do that! There are a number of tours that focus on photography. If, however, your class will be doing those types of tours during the 4 days you're together, then maybe try visiting the
Mendenhall Glacier .
Juneau has a lot of great outdoor adventures but if you choose to venture out of town try
Sitka. As I mentioned earlier, the summer is great to try some fishing but Sitka also has a lot of history and Native American Heritage. So that may of interest to you.
