I would suggest a day trip to Toledo as the city is only 44 miles from
Madrid, and you can get here in 90 minutes.
Toledo is located on top of a rocky mountain and surrounded by yellow hillsides, and it is actually one of the oldest towns in
Spain.
As soon as you get there, the city's skyline is dominated by the mighty Alcazar fortress, which you must visit in order to soak all its grandiosity.
From the Alcazar you can get lovely views of Toledo, and its upper windows are level with the top of the nearby cathedral spire, making for an awe inspiring image and picture-taking opportunity.
