Sacramento's in the valley so you're in all likelihood going to have to go east to the Sierra Nevadas...how far east will depend on the snowfall. There is the
Sno-Park at Yuba Gap...it's a little over an hour away. Bad sign is that they're currently closed due to...lack of snow. Not a good sign, but they're not out of the snow season yet so they could get more. Keep them in mind, cause that's a good place for kids (if it's open). The big ski places like
Boreal will have a greater likelihood and quantity of snow, and they also have stuff for kids, but it's also a lot more expensive and a bit more of a commute. March though can be a tricky time of the year for those places on the fringes of the mountain range, so you might want to prepare for a bit more driving.
