Now now....let's not *completely* cross off Oahu off the list. I know I'm completely biased, being that I grew up there, but like all of you have said, if you get outside of Waikiki, then it's ok. I'd have to agree, while Waikiki makes Oahu one of the less appealing islands, it still holds some great features.

For those that love to go outdoors, why not try the Diamond Head Trail? Yes, this is at the end of Waikiki but it is an amazing view once you've finished the trail. There's always Pali Lookout. Or how about Hanauma Bay? For more of the quiet beaches, try out Lanikai Beach in Kailua.

So, while I still think Maui will be a good change of pace, there's still lots to do on Oahu. Like everyone said, just stay on the outer ends of Waikiki.
