Fishing in Alaska is very interesting. My friend and I have been to Alaska last Jan. and we were very much enjoyed our trip. One of the most popular species we have seen there is halibut. The average halibut caught was 20-30 lbs. Pacific Halibut put up quite a fight, the big ones were very strong. Fishing season is on January. Seward, Alaska is famous for its silver, or Coho, salmon fishing. The Seward Silver Salmon Derby takes place the second week in August and is the largest fishing derby in the state. These salmon appear in the Resurrection Bay area in mid June and stick around until early fall. We are going again there for our New Year vacation. |
