What are your favorite Washington DC Sights?
Personally, I liked the Vietnam Veterans Memorial done by artist Maya Lin. I didn't know anyone who was in that war but it was definitely a moving experience! What makes it more unique is that the veteran's names are in chronological order of death. Loved ones are able to leave photos, flowers, etc. Others use a paper and pencil to create a stencil of their loved one's name. It's definitely a must see!
Another interesting one is the National Archive. View some of the United States most valuable documents. The Declaration of Independence is housed here in a room that is not very well lit but still viewable under a glass.
Helpful tip: Do not use your flash inside the building. Security guards frown upon this. Also, do not bring large bags. They will be checking all bags at the security entrance. |
