Re: The state capitol in Oklahoma City The capitol is the only capitol building around that's surrounded by working oil wells. One is named Petunia because it stands in the middle of a flower bed. The current building, which was built in 1917, is packed with stained glass, artwork, and other interesting things to do. Trained guides lead tours during the work week, which take about 45 minutes. The tours are packed with information about the state's singular history.
